Everything is made of thee elementary particles, not atoms

When I was a child I used to wonder what everything was made of. When I heard for the first time about atoms at school, I was so happy for finding the answer I was looking for.   The new knowledge I  just learned mesmerized me. I was hypnotized by it. I remember sitting outside, during a break, in the shade, gazing at the trees in the sun thinking 'you are made of atoms.'

Matter is made of elements, and elements are in turn made of atoms. Atoms are in turn made of neutrons,  protons, and electrons.  And neutrons and protons are in turn made of quarks. It is impossible to divide electrons and quarks further: they are fundamental particles. Therefore electrons and quarks are what everything around us is made of. But what is fascinating about these elementary 'particles' is that they are not solid particles but waves of energies. Matter at its fundamental stage is not solid but waves of energy. That is the reality.
